适用范围
本标准根据可燃物的类型和燃烧特性将火灾定义为六个不同的类别。
本标准适用于选用灭火器灭火等灭火和防火领域。
本标准代替GB/T 4968-1985《火灾分类》，与GB/T 4968-1985相比，本标准主要变化如下：
———不仅根据可燃物的性质定义火灾分类，而且根据可燃物的类型和燃烧特性对火灾进行分类；
———根据GB 50140-2005《建筑灭火器配置设计规范》中的定义，增加了Ｅ 类火灾（带电火灾）；
———根据ISO 3941:2007中的定义，增加了F类火灾（烹饪器具内的烹饪物火灾）；
———按照现行的国家标准编写要求，对GB/T 4968-1985的编写格式进行了调整。
